Does my state accept CE Solutions?
CE Solutions is accepted by most states and by the NREMT. Please go to our Where we are Accepted page for a complete list.

Does the National Registry (NREMT) accept CE Solutions?
Yes. The NREMT accepts continuing education that has received official approval through a state EMS office OR through CECBEMS/CAPCE.  CE Solutions is accredited and approved by multiple state EMS offices.

Most, if not all of your NREMT questions can be found on our NREMT Recertification Information Page.

Are there limitations on the Unlimited Program?
The unlimited program allows you unlimited access to the program for your subscription period. You may obtain up to 12 CEUs per 24 hour period.

Most licensing authorities accept up to 12 hours CEUs per 24 hour period, however some counties in California are only accepting 8 CEUs per day. It is your responsibility to determine how many hours you are actually allowed.

What are core hours?
Core hours are those identified from the respective National Standard Curriculum for refresher programs. Paramedic refreshers are 48 hours and Basic refreshers are 24 hours in length for a 2-year period.

The National Standard EMT-Basic Refresher program is divided into six modules. The six modules are:

  1. Preparatory
  2. Airway
  3. Patient Assessment
  4. Medical/Behavioral
  5. Trauma
  6. Obstetrics, Infants and Children

Any topic that falls into one of the above modules is considered a core topic.

Does CE Solutions send my certificates to the state?
Most states require that you submit an application for renewal and require your signature certifying that you do in fact have proof of CE documentation.

How soon can I take a course after passing it?
You may retake any CEU module after 6 months of successfully passing the module. Your course library will automatically update the date passed when you successfully retake the module. You should only use a CEU module once per recertification cycle.

Does CE Solutions send me a certificate?
You will receive your certificate via your online history file. The certificates are stored online so you will have access to printing a copy anytime you need to.

When will I receive my certificate?
You receive each certificate immediately after successfully completing each exam. You may print it anytime from your history file.

Can I stop during a test?
You may stop and leave the program at anytime. Your score for the exam will not be logged until you click on the grade exam button.

What if I fail a test?
You can review the material and re-take the exam after a 1 hour waiting period.

What topics do I need to take for California?
California does not require any specific topics, however you should utilize continuing education that is specific to your certification. For example, if you are renewing your EMS certification, you should use EMS CE only. Do not attempt to use Fire, Hazmat or Risk Management CE to renew your EMS certification.

California accepts CE Solutions' continuing education program and CE Solutions is a California CE Provider #94-4601. You may obtain your continuing education and recertify using CE Solutions. Note that some counties in California are only accepting 8 CEUs per day. It is your responsibility to determine how many hours you are actually allowed.

What are the CEU requirements for Texas recertification?
You can view the Texas DSHS minimum content areas required for recertification by clicking on this Texas CEU Requirements link.

How many CEUs can I take per day?
You are allowed to earn up to 12 CEUs per 24-hour period. Most state, local and national licensing entities will accept a maximum of 12 credits hours per day, however some counties in California are only accepting 8 CEUs per day. It is your responsibility to determine how many hours you are actually allowed.

For your protection, our system is designed to prevent you from earning more than the allowed 12 CEUs per day.

Keep in mind that each licensing entity has its own rules and regulations and the CEU limitation will vary from entity to entity.

When can I retake a CEU module?
You may retake any CEU module after 6 months of successfully passing the module. Your course library will automatically update the date passed when you successfully retake the module.

You should only use a CEU module once per recertification cycle.

What can I use for electives?
You can use any EMS topic as an elective. For example, if you are required to obtain 12 CEUs of trauma, any CEUs above and beyond the 12 CEUs of trauma you earn will be counted as electives. Please choose any EMS topic from any EMS category to earn additional EMS elective CEUs.

When I try to take an exam, the system tells me that I must wait a specific amount of time.
The exam clock is based on a true 24 hour rotation cycle. For example, If you took 12 CEUs yesterday and the first CEU you earned was at 5PM, you must wait until 5PM today to take the next exam.

Think of it as a “24-hour Merry-Go-Round” with only 12 seats. Every time a CEU is earned, a seat is occupied for 24 hours by that CEU.

After being on the amusement ride for 24 hours the CEU must leave and therefore a seat becomes available for the next exam.

Do I have to wait before taking an exam?
Some states like Michigan and New Jersey require all users to spend a minimum amount of time on each article before being allowed to receive credit for each topic. The state of certification listed in your account profile is a state that requires the timer to be active.

To comply with this requirement, we (and all other online CE providers) are required to place timers on each course. We realize that some students may read faster than the timer will permit you to advance, but regulations prohibit us from changing this function.

What classification of CEUs does CE Solutions offer?
CE Solutions offer F3 Distributive and F5 Virtual Instructor Led Training (VILT).

F1 indicates a one-time, live event such as an annual conference.
F2 indicates a live event offered multiple times such as an ACLS course.
F3 indicates a distributed learning activity such as a course offered online or via video.
F5 indicates Virtual Instructor Led Training (VILT).

Do you offer Technician level hazmat CEUs?
CE Solutions currently offers Awareness Level Hazmat.

My history or progress monitor is not displaying all of my CEUs.
In order for the history page or progress monitor to display correctly please verify you have the date range set correctly. The history page and progress monitor will not display any courses taken outside of the date range you have set.

After setting the correct dates, you will need to enter the correct amount of CEUs in each category that you wish to track.

The final step is to save your information by selecting "Save Settings" near the bottom of the page.

I passed a course in the past but now it is not showing that I took the course.
What you are looking at is the course library, which may change, as courses are revised or deleted.

For example, from the time you passed a certain course until today, that course may have been revised and issued a new course ID number.

The area that you should be looking at is your history, as it will not change once you have completed a course.

How do I print a certificate?
Every certificate you receive is stored in your history file and may be accessed by clicking on the “My History” menu item.

Click on the View/Print link to display a print ready copy of your certificate. All you need to do then is print the page as you would print any other webpage.
